Delphi Academy of European Studies

The Delphi Academy of European Studies was initiated in 2017 as a programme of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, sponsored by the Region of Central Greece.

The programme focuses on the diachronic and synchronic study of European history and culture and the ways in which Europe today responds to the multifaceted challenges of political, economic, and cultural globalisation.

The Delphi Academy of European Studies offers two-week tuition-free interdisciplinary seminars to graduate students and PhD candidates, as well as to qualified senior undergraduates. The seminars are taught by world renowned academics at the Centre’s facilities in Delphi.

The instructors adopt interdisciplinary approaches to their subjects, with a view to addressing the research interests of students in the Humanities as well as the Social Sciences and they are accompanied by a workshop and/or invited lectures on current political and cultural developments in Europe.

The curriculum and the academic functions of the Delphi Academy of European Studies are overseen by an International Committee consisting of the following Professors:

  • Panagiotis Roilos (Harvard; founder of the Academy and chair of the Committee, President of the Governing Board of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi)
  • Homi Bhabha (Harvard)
  • Peter Frankopan (Oxford; Director of the Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research)
  • Michèle Lamont (Harvard)
  • Spiros Pollalis (Harvard School of Design)
  • Dimitrios Yatromanolakis (Johns Hopkins)
