The B. & M. Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music and the European Cultural Centre of Delphi presented, from 25 September to 8 December 2013, the exhibition C. P. Cavafy 'Painted'-40 Contemporary Greek Artists, curated by the art historian and critic Takis Mavrotas, artistic director of the Foundation.
The aim of the exhibition was to highlight the potential coexistence of the poetry of C. P. Cavafy and the visual arts through one hundred paintings, sculptures, engravings, drawings and art installations by distinguished Greek artists.
The following artists participated:Tetsis, Theocharakis, Karas, Tsoklis, Xenakis, Mytaras, Fassianos, Sorogas, Makroulakis, Drougkas, Isaris, Levidis, Fanakidis, Psychopedis, Arvanitis, Xenos, Adamakos, Daskalakis Papadimitriou, Manousakis, Arfaras, Varotsos, Gonou, Papasaikas, Bokoros, Sakayan, Spiliotopoulos, Haros, Madenis, Athanassiades, Gyparakis, Rorris, Psychoulis, Charalambides, Papailiakis, Choudalakis, Sofianopoulos and Stoantziki.
Works by Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika and Tsarouchis as well as Cavafy's manuscripts and valuable editions from the collections of the Benaki Museum-Ghika Art Gallery and the Tsarouchis Foundation, the private collections of Dionysis Fotopoulos, Fani Palli-Petralia, Zacharias Portalakis, Dimitris Savvidis, Petros Vergos, Thanasis Michailidis, and of the publishing houses "Icaros" and "Ermis" etc. were also presented.
