The poems by three outstanding poets of the 20th century, C.P. Cavafy, Arseny Tarkovsky and Heiner Müller were transferred into a musical performance, the Ophelia Quartet, presented by the European Cultural Centre of Delphi on 11, 12 and 13 October at the ATTIS theatre.
The musician and composer Panayotis Vellianitis finds common ground in three seemingly different poets: the acceptance of self-confinement in the ‘Windows’ and ‘Walls’ of Cavafy, followed by the ‘Fate’ of Tarkovsky, who runs behind us like a mad man with a razor. Finally, Müller leads us to search the absolute freedom that is death.
Interpretation by the distinguished Russian soprano Natalia Pschenitschnikova, well known for her interpretations of works of contemporary avant-garde music by Yannis Christou, Giacinto Scelsi and John Cage.
Direction: Theodoros Terzopoulos
The performance took place at the ATTIS theatre on 11, 12 and 13 October in the framework of the programme “WITH EXQUISITE MUSIC, VOICES-150 YEARS FROM THE BIRTH OF C. P. CAVAFY” - NSRF 2007-2013.
